Overview

Maximizing the expertise and knowledge of our training staff is crucial to a driver’s success in the area of fitness. The PitFit program encompasses a wide-ranging array of training activities to give the driver varied program that is proven effective. Drivers participate in sports such as boxing, swimming, cycling, running, rock climbing, mixed martial arts training, kayaking, hot power yoga, weight training, and various other activities. Along with the fitness, each driver is carefully monitored in the areas if heart rate and blood lactate so ensure proper recovery is in order. To add to the program, each driver encounters vigorous mental, cognitive, and visual drills to provide similar situations they may encounter in a racing situation. Everything comes full circle when the driver realizes that through the seemingly endless array of activities they have become a human performance machine. The program is far from easy, and we have little patience for slackers. But if the driver puts in the effort, they will see results.

The PitFit programs have been painstakingly designed to focus on an individual driver’s mental and physical fitness in the specific type of car and series they compete. Every driver and pit crew member wants the most out of themselves each and every time they put on their helmet and firesuits. Drivers ranging from Indy 500 champions to recreational club racers have used the PitFit programs to gain an edge on the competition while pit crews have improved their pit stops. PitFit has honed the physical and mental fitness of Indycar champions Sam Hornish Jr. ( 2001, 2002, 2006), Scott Dixon ( 2003, 2008 ) and Dario Franchitti (2007). We also have the last three Indy 500 champions ( Hornish 2006, Franchitti 2007, Dixon 2008 ). Along with these drivers, our programs have proved successful for champions in NHRA, Grand Am, USAC, Indy Lights, Mazda Atlantic, Formula BMW, and karting. Whatever you drive, we have you covered.

Driver Training Programs

Unlimited Training Program

The Unlimited Program is the most beneficial option for drivers seeking the highly varied and effective program PitFit uses with its top drivers. The driver pays a flat fee per month based on length of agreement, and in return is given unlimited training hours. With 20 visits per month, each session is priced as low as $25/workout ! The program focuses heavily on our multi-leveled group sessions but also includes up to four private workouts per month. These group sessions are divided so there are more advanced groups, thus allowing proper training for all. The advantage of the Unlimited Program is the fact that a driver can receive an incredible amount of training for minimal cost. The driver can choose the number of months to train, whether they are consecutive or broken up throughout the season. Unlimited Program participants also receive complementary bottle water, Gatorade, and towel service along with PitFit apparel for training. The drivers also have the option of partnering with another driver, thus reducing costs. Call for pricing.

Per Session Training

This option is similar to our Unlimited Program but allows the driver to purchase a set number of sessions or group workouts without any further commitment. The workouts are available for the calendar year and allow full access to the PitFit program. Amenities such as water, Gatorade, towel service, and apparel are not provided as part of the program. Simply purchase a passcard on your first visit (which is free remember) and use it whenever you want. Call for pricing.

e-PitFit

For the driver who wishes to use the PitFit program without traveling to Indianapolis, there is e-PitFit. These custom-made programs are available for purchase and feature the same training exercises and methods used with all of our drivers. Your workouts arrive in your email box each day, and each routine comes with diagrams and instructions of all exercise in the program. You can also gain full access to an online training log that allows you to load in all training data. New programs are added every few months, thus allowing you to keep improving your racing fitness!

Sports Nutrition

Fueling the driving athlete is a primary piece of the racing puzzle. Without the proper nutrition, the driver’s racing, training, and mental performance suffers. PitFit offers two options for the driver looking to lose weight, gain, muscle, and keep their human engine running at its best when in the car.

Individual Nutrition Consultations

Drivers meet with Registered Dietitian and Ironman Triathelete Heather Fink, R.D., M.S., to discuss the right formula and nutrition plan needed to be at their best. Heather has experience working with many drivers in the areas of weight loss, weight gain, and race weekend nutrition and hydration plans.
